Interesting Fact: Barbara is a massive admirer of English singer Joe Longthorne and when she was 18 went to Blackpool Pier to watch him perform. Determined to meet her idol she tried to get backstage but was thwarted by security and decided instead to hide inside a bin near the stage entrance. However her plan was “trashed” as the bin was picked up, with Barbara inside, and rolled down the end of the pier! Barbara finally got to meet Joe many years later while treating his back during his illness with Lymphoma and they have remained friends ever since!
