Deal or No Deal

Liz’s Story

43-year old Liz Phillips took the walk of wealth. Liz has raised 4 children single-handedly after losing her husband Rick to a sudden brain hemorrhage. Rick had given his approval for his organs to be donated. Liz upheld his decision and a number of his organs were donated including his liver.  Then in a cruel twist of fate, Liz’s youngest child, 14-year-old Jade was diagnosed with liver disease and it’s likely she’ll eventually need a liver transplant. Despite this Liz has still found time to raise thousands of pounds for children with liver disease.

Liz’s Game

A lucky stone and a photo of Rick accompanied Liz to the pound table. Liz revealed that she had a dream about Deal or No Deal in which she was the first contestant to leave with minus £40 after picking Box 5 twice. Liz hadn’t developed a system but hinted that birthdays may play a part.

Unsurprisingly Liz decided to pick Box 5 first and £5,000 was revealed. £250, £500, £1000 and 1p concluded a good opening round. The Banker rang to say Liz’s 5 year old nephew Seth was the youngest ever person in the Dream Factory and he had been entered in to the Hall of Fame. The Banker’s first offer was £10,000 minus £40. Liz was brave enough to say NO DEAL.

Round Two produced £750 and £1 with Liz’s Sister-in-law revealing £35,000 in the last box of the round. Liz’s obsession with former ‘Blue’ member Lee Ryan was discussed as she has all his albums and photos on the fridge. “He’d be my toy boy,” said Liz.  The Banker’s second offer was £10,000. After Seth’s advice, Liz decided to NO DEAL.

Round Three did little damage as £50, £3,000 and £10,000 were wiped from the board. The Banker’s third offer was £15,000 – NO DEAL.

The game took a turn for the worst as £250,000, was found followed by 10p and £10 in Round Four. Despite the damage The Banker stuck at £15,000 – NO DEAL.

Round Five produced all reds £15,000, £50,00 and £20,000 ended an awful round.  The Banker was unsettled by Liz’s belief in her Box 17 so offered £20,000 – DEAL.

Liz needed to find the £75,000 and £100,000 in Round Six. £100,000 was found first in a perfect start but £5 and 50p spoilt the round. The Banker would have offered £19,960. With £100 and £75,000 left everyone was hoping she had beaten The Banker. As the seal was pulled on Box 17, £100 was inside. Liz took home £20,000, but this was Christmas Stars so Liz also received a personal message from Lee Ryan, a mountain bike, 2 tickets to see Dirty Dancing the musical, a night in a Luxury hotel in London’s West End and 5 tickets to see Sunderland FC along with the chance to meet the players.
